S-E-C. What most sports media call the best football conference in America, they excel quite well in the drama department. Maybe they should change their name to something like NaDM conference for Never a Dull Moment. During the season, there seems to be more drama in the SEC than on a daytime soap opera. Today was no different.

Three players from LSU will be suspended for this week’s game against Auburn for failed drug tests. One of the three is their star cornerback, Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu, whose nickname is “Honey Badger” has been a beast on the field this year. Making big plays at key times for LSU, there had even been outside talk of a possible “Mathieu for Heisman” campaign. Not so much anymore. Since we are in a social media sports world now, the jokes were flying today on the Twitterverse, particularly about Mathieu.

TWEET OF THE DAY

Today was an interesting day for another reason. In case you missed it, an Ohio man who owned an exotic animal farm killed himself Tuesday evening shortly after releasing all 48 animals on his farm. A wild, chaotic and dangerous Wednesday ensued for authorities attempting to track them down.

One of the folks in the Twitterverse was clever enough to combine the day’s two top stories in one tweet. And for that, it earned Tweet of the Day.
