It came through like this:

With  some follow-up tweets:

I remember his name. I remember the story. But it is after his death that I come to understand the human side of former Baltimore Ravens’ player, Orlando Brown. I say understand but that’s not entirely true. I don’t know that we can ever “understand” someone in the spotlight unless we actually spend time with them, getting to know them, and conversing with them. But if there’s anything I’ve come to appreciate about Twitter, it’s that it helps you to get a glimpse of the personal side of those in the spotlight. Granted it may not always be “pretty” but it’s real. They are people who have friends and family that love them, just like you and me. And that’s really the bottom line isn’t it? There’s always somebody left behind that loves them.

In light of the passing of Mr. Brown today, the following is what the Twitterverse had to say. As always is the case, if there is a link in one of the tweets, I encourage you to click on it. They are usually stories that bring more insight into this post.

Normally I don’t set one tweet apart from the others on posts like this but I felt it was important to add some context. FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer interviewed Orlando Brown in 2004. Mr. Brown was staying at a hotel right by the Twin Towers when the planes hit in 2001. It is a story that is linked in the tweet below. I encourage you to click the link and read Orlando Brown’s 9/11 story.
