It’s here! It’s here! Friday is finally here. Friday Fun Tweets for August 26, 2011 is born. Weighing in at…….oh forget it. I just can’t go on with that nonsense.
It’s here! It’s here! Friday….
Argh! What is my deal? YES it’s Friday. Or at least it is for the next 37 minutes. At which point I might, MIGHT, just have this post done.
In honor of Friday, here are your Fun Tweets of the week. These are tweets that I have found funny, humorous, enlightening, interesting, ROFL, or just plain old fun. We have LOTS to cover this week so here we go:
Every now and then I like to include a couple of golf tweets. I feel it is my duty as a sports fan to do so, even though I can’t stand watching it. Throw the dog a bone if you will?? =)
You can definitely tell that college football is near on the Twitterverse right now. So many people counting down the days to the 1st game. So many teams coming out with new uniforms. So many fans amping up the trash talk. So many pre-season polls…OH WAIT. Those don’t mean anything do they? (Don’t ask Boise State or TCU please.)*Sigh* I smell FALL in the air.
Who says polls can’t be illuminating?
Someone tweets #IStandWithTheU for University of Miami, who as you know is in the midst of a scandal of “major” proportions (sorry, pun intended). That tweet brought a response, as you might expect, from Florida State below:
Kansas and The Wizard of Oz just go together. Get a grip Kansans!
Even the sports world was taken in by the rumors earlier this week of Will & Jada Pinkett-Smith’s “separation“. But this tweet ALMOST became tweet of the week by applying a sports analogy to The Smith’s situation.
It’s August and we are almost nearing the long, dreary end of the baseball season. Unless of course your team is in the playoff hunt and well, it’s not really so dreary now is it?
On this one below, please click on the link. “Gracie” is former Cubs and Diamondbacks first baseman Mark Grace, now a team broadcaster for the D-Backs. The racing presidents throwing it down to Gracie.
So many near-no hitters this year. But after this tweet, maybe we should re-think this stat. Can we call a team “no-hitters” instead?
Only reason why this next tweet is in here is because I want it remembered. Felix Hernandez wants to be in Seattle. Or does he? Lost in translation? I’m not sure.
Here is another one that ALMOST made Tweet of the Week/Day. Mariners played a double-header against Cleveland on Tuesday; making up for a rain out earlier this season. Mariners reporter Shannon Drayer shares her day. Well done, Shannon. Well done.
A slight divergence here from the standard Friday Fun Tweets.
When I first started following Mike Tyson on Twitter, I did it to see if he was a “changed” man. No I wasn’t hoping he would fall/fail. Understanding people’s thought process is fascinating to me. These two tweets from him, shed a large light on who he “is” now.
If he can “choose” to change, maybe we all should since none of us are perfect. Not by a long shot.
TWEETS OF THE DAY (or actually the week)
This first one came out of the blue and literally I laughed out loud. What a concept!
I had to get soccer in this post somehow.
The gist of this is if ESPN’s eloquent soccer announcer Ian Darke, were to call Hurricane Irene like he does a soccer match….well…this is what you get. I don’t know about you but I can hear his voice now. (SIDE NOTE: I am praying for the safety of all that have been or could be affected by the hurricane as of this posting. Not trying to make light of the situation but am trying to bring smiles or laughs by sharing the tweet.)
