Spanning the Twitterverse: City to Cartwheels?

Spanning the Twitterverse to bring you the constant variety of tweets
The thrill of the retweet and the agony of the unfollow
The human drama of the twitter timeline
This is CadChica’s Wide World of Tworts

I took a few days off from posting this weekend. Oh I made sure to get my Friday Fun Tweets in but I needed a little break after the last week or so.Combine fighting sickness with blogging about a couple of topics beyond the normal “tweet-centered” post I normally do, definitely required rest. After those issues, I took some time off and am back in full force with some tweets from the World’s Favorite-est (is that a word?) Sport: Futbol/Soccer/Football.

Yes, it is that time of year everyone. The EPL (English Premier League)  & German Bundesliga started this weekend. Spain’s La Liga powerhouses Barcelona & Real Madrid played to a 2-2 draw in their Supercup match on Sunday (Yes, Messi scored. All is right in the world.) Italy’s Serie A is set to kick off in less than 2 weeks. It’s a bit of sports-bliss for me. Ahhhhh.

I have tweets of course. And included is a tweet with a video link that made me laugh and laugh and laugh today. Penalty kicks? You’ve never seen one like this. Trust me. But first we have these:

The EPL did start this weekend. And the first set of games ended with Manchester City playing newcomer Swansea City today. Didn’t particularly care either way but I do enjoy reading tweets from people who are funny, yet still live and die with their teams.

Duane Rollins is the Managing Editor of Canadian Soccer News. And he is an unabashed Manchester City fan. City lives in the shadow (my words not his) of “perennial” champion Manchester United. City spent quite a bit of money this offseason so expectations are high. (Who am I kidding, aren’t they always high at City?) Anyway, I decided to “follow” Mr. Rollins today to see what his reactions would be about the game today. He didn’t disappoint, especially his last one below regarding City’s newest addition, Kun Aguero.

Sports Illustrated’s Georgina Turner has two tweets in today’s post. The second one is my tweet of the day. But this one I included because somehow she compared soccer to Everybody Loves Raymond. HA!

Kei Kamara from Sporting KC in the MLS is a tweet-quote dream. He’s taken to posting pictures of his food. Why did I feel this worthy of including here? Because he posted it at 10 o’clock at night. My kind of guy: breakfast for dinner. (Click on the link to see the picture.)

Messi scored against Real Madrid. True it wound up being a 2-2 tie, but Messi scored. If there was a better quote about Messi than below, I would love to know what it is. This one below, is pretty good.

As promised above, this is truly a laugh out loud kind of video on the link. Click the link listed in the tweet below. Think a goalie can ever psyche out a penalty kick taker? Think again.
